Our purpose
A practical plan between the idea and the first cut
TrimLayout helps you compare decorative layouts on measured walls, identify the pieces they need, and carry a labeled plan to the room.
Wall, stair, and trim planning in one project
TrimLayout provides 11 calculator entry points for board and batten, wainscoting, picture-frame molding, grids, shiplap, slats, stair walls, casing, and baseboard. Wall layouts, stair scenes, and trim assemblies can belong to the same project, with measured walls and openings shared where appropriate.
Compare alternatives before selecting the design you intend to build. The drawing, labeled pieces, and installation marks describe that geometry. Material planning then uses actual profiles, available stock, kerf, end trimming, and spare allowances rather than treating every wood strip as interchangeable.
Your measurements stay with the plan
The tools run in the browser and save edited projects on your device. My Plans lets you continue, rename, duplicate, download, or remove them. A project file is a portable backup; a share link carries the selected plan and its necessary measurements. Neither is an account-based cloud sync service.
Keep incomplete measurements visible until you can resolve them. A useful plan distinguishes a measured wall, a chosen proportion, a calculated cutting reference, and a fitting decision still to be made on site.
How the calculations are maintained
TrimLayout maintains TrimLayout’s formulas, examples, boundaries, and automated checks. Published worked layouts use the same current calculation models as the corresponding tools. Tests cover representative geometry, measurement units, invalid inputs, and project behavior; worked examples are demonstrations, not records of completed installations.
Each mark is derived from its stated physical reference. Internal calculations retain unrounded coordinates and format numbers for display. This avoids repeatedly accumulating rounded gaps, but it does not make an uneven wall match the drawing or establish the accuracy of a field measurement.
Calculation Methods explains the input references, construction relationships, worked facts, and limits. A valid layout and a complete material plan have separate requirements. Unknown stock settings, unsupported joints, and unresolved site conditions stay relevant even when the front view looks complete.
Software checks do not constitute a trade qualification or an inspection of your installation. TrimLayout does not provide structural, code, electrical, plumbing, or exterior-system decisions. Follow the selected product’s installation requirements and verify the actual boundaries and fit.
Report a calculation issue to support@trimlayout.com with the tool name, reproducible inputs, and the result you expected. Remove personal or confidential details from any example you send.
